A LITTLE GIFT.....

It is that time of year!  No, not holiday time, end of the school year time!  Teachers, bus drivers, students or graduates.  All of them deserve a little something and nothing is better than a handmade gift.  I thought making these little notebooks into something much better was a great (and economical) way to go.
I attached mulberry paper from The Paper Company to the front of the mini composition notebooks that I got where everything is a dollar.  I used water around the edges of the mulberry paper, and pulled the fibers to make a furry look to my handmade book cover.  Then, I used Ranger Distress Ink in Spiced Marmalade on the binding and some of the fur.  Susan K. Weckesser's awesome stencil was my guide for the "X" pattern down the side.  Miscellaneous ribbon and beads were added to close the book and to mark your page in the book.

These super cute images are from Susan's beautiful papers, Bouquet and Live In Color.  I fussy cut out the flower and the bird and attached them to the cover.  Susan sent me some fun paper flowers, so I used 2 to finish my handmade book cover off.

Such a fun and easy little book!  I know it will be loved!

LEFTOVERS

When you are finished with a project, what do you do with your leftovers?  Left over paints and inks and papers and.....?

I always use every single bit!  I keep the papers and I wipe off my paint brushes on them.  Or I glue left over pieces of paper and ephemera to a new piece of paper and then wipe off my brushes on it or use up excess paint.  Then, when I make a new project, I have tons of beautiful backgrounds to choose from!

The first one is from the back of my spraying box. I then added one of my celery stalk roses to it and doodling.  The second is leftover Gelli Plate Printing, with a left over piece of a previous project.

I hope you put your leftovers to good use!

BEAUTIFUL

For my second project, as a Moxxie Muse, I stayed with the gorgeous "Road To Recovery" paper line.  Remember, Moxxie can be found at your local scrapbook store or online, like at Scrapbook.com!  That link takes you directly to the over 300 Moxxie items!

This line isn't only about recovering from cancer, it is any type of recovery.  But, as with anything that you need to fight in order to recovery, it changes you.  And sometimes you feel like your beauty has changed and it is a very real feeling.  I wanted to make this card for just that reason.

When you pick up the pieces after something life changing, remember YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!  And just Be Your Own Kind Of Beautiful!!

I layered 2 papers and diecut another for the center.  I used a diecut border and ticket too.  Then I added some ribbon, a flower and a few pearls.

Always remember to Be Your Own Kind Of Beautiful!  Because YOU ARE!

Aren't those little houses the cutest?  And the sun and clouds?  The sentiment is so true!  "A home is where you plant your flower seeds....".  I cut them all out and attached them to the card with 3D glue dots, so they had a little dimension.  They are all colored with Ranger Distress Markers.

In addition to the stamps, I used Susan's gorgeous papers,  "Color Burst" and "Live In Color".  I LOVE these papers!  They are just the right amount of muted colors matched with bold prints.

GOT MOXXIE?

I'm so excited!  This is my first official post as part of the Moxie design team!  They call us "Muses".  Super awesome!

Moxxie is an industry leader in Scrapbooking.  They have amazing papers, stickers, diecuts and so much more!  You can find their products at your local scrapbook store or Scrapbook.com.

I was given several amazing lines to use and this one just spoke to me.  I always say, the paper speaks to me and shows me the direction to go in.  In addition to this project, expect to see at least 2 more projects with this line!

This line is called "The Road To Recovery".  It is a beautiful blend of blues, yellows, whites and grey.  There are graphic designs, awareness ribbons, and delicious doodles! I made this card.
I am just so Thankful to be part of this amazing team!

I double layered the 2 background papers and diecut the third.  I used 3 flag diecuts on the side, the scroll diecut on the bottom and the fancy circle with frame diecut.  I stamped the sentiment in the center and added the ribbon, flowers, wood embellishment and pearls

A DOODLE....

I made this paper napkin background for the Fall 2013 Altered Arts Magazine.  I've been hoarding it since then, just waiting for the perfect "something" to add to it!

Today, I am sharing a Doodle I made using Yasutomo Mineral Paper (which I am obsessed with) and Gel Xtreme markers.  The markers glide over the mineral paper so smoothly!  It is a wonderful combo to work with!!

If you LOVE to doodle like I do, you have to try it with roller ball pens/markers and mineral paper!  You will LOVE it even more!!

PRETTY POCKET WATCH

Several months ago, the super sweet Terri Sproul sent me a chipboard pocket watch that she designed.  I finally put it together and decorated it.

It came un-assembled, in this flat package with Terri's picture in the top corner.  So cute!

SUPPLIES:

I gathered my papers, watch and Dew Drops and decided which papers I was use.

I picked the damask for the background of the watch, and the holly for the outside of the watch.  I liked how the black was almost like a very dark grey.  It helps go with the vintage feel I wanted.   When the paper was attached to the watch, I sanded it for more distressing.   I also fussy cut some of the actual holly to put on the outside of the watch.

I used glitter markers on the numbers, gears, hands and winding key.

I attached the layers of the watch with glossy accents.  I added a brad to attach the hands of the watch.  The gears, holly and dew drops were all attached with glossy accents too.  I found a chain piece and thought it was the perfect finishing touch!

I LOVE how it came out!!

Be sure to visit The Robin's Nest to find most of the products I used, and visit Terri's blog too!  She's always doing something awesome!!
