THE MANY USES OF SPLASH INK

Hi everyone!!  I am super excited to show you my project today!!  It is my first post to the Niji Blog.  I'm still so excited to be on the team!!
I have used splash inks in several different ways on this piece and want to show you how versatile Splash is!

SUPPLIES;
Niji Splash Ink
Niji Yasutomo Pearlescent Watercolors
Plaid White Acrylic paint
Strathmore Mixed Media Paper
Hero Arts "Italian Poetry"  Background Stamp
Dee Gruening "Inspire" Stamp

Start by gathering some supplies.

Here is a sampling of supplies.  Paper, cardboard, Splash ink, Pearlescent Watercolors, Stamps and Foam.
I often make pieces from paper instead of canvas.  I love the weight and feel of mixed media paper, so I use it and glue it to cardboard.  Cut both your paper and cardboard to 7.5x9".
Next, turn your Splash Ink into a stamp pad.

Drop black Splash into a mister and spray onto stamp foam.  I like to spray it instead dropping it on to the pad in concentrated areas.  Now use the foam to ink up the background stamp and stamp all over your paper.  Next, we will make Splash into acrylic paint!

Put a drop of white acrylic paint on your craft mat and add Splash to get your desired color.  I wanted a light yellow so I added 1 Magenta, 5 Yellow and 25 drops of water to my acrylic paint.  I then dry brushed it over my stamped background by dipping my brush in my paint, brushing most of it off on a paper towel and brushing what is left on the paper.

I buffed the paper with a paper towel to make sure my paper stayed smooth.
Now, take a brown marker and draw your image.  I can't draw for my life, but I love making hair!!  After I had my image, I used 5 Blue and 1 Magenta to make the blue ink for the dress.  I added water to it so it became a lovely watercolor and painted it onto the dress.

I made a second ink pad by putting the same blue color ink in a mister and spraying it on the pad.   Then, I made a really lovely purple on my craft mat, (10 Magenta 1 Blue) added water to it and swiped through it with my foam pad.  It gave me a wonderful shade of purple that I used to stamp my stars and sentiment.  I outlined them with a White Sharpie.

Embellishments came next.  Gauze and flower on her arm.   Flowers, flags and a bird in her hair.  Looking good!!  But I wanted this piece to shine!!  I put some pearlescent watercolors over some areas in the background.  And last, but not least, I sprayed a bit of my blue ink, that was left in my mister, over the piece.  I use spray Splash on everything

I used Splash 4 different ways on this piece.
Splash in an ink pad for stamping.
Splash as an acrylic paint.
Splash as a watercolor.
Splash as a spray ink.
Thank you for visiting today!  I hope you check out the Niji Blog and the Yasutomo Website.  Lots to see and much to inspire!!
