AN "ORGANIC" ART JOURNAL PAGE

If you didn't already know, Terri Sproul has a free art journal/canvas show every Tuesday night.  Check out her Facebook group All Things Terri Sproul to get all the details!  It is her birthday this week, so she isn't having a show.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY TERRI!!!

This art journal page I made for SinCity Stamps was inspired by Terri's show last week.  The show was called "Organic Look".

SUPPLIES:
Just as Terri showed on her show, I started by applying masking tape on my pages and covered them with Gesso.  The maksing tape gives the background the beginning of the "Organic Look" because it is irregular, like nature.

Because I didn't have large stamps for the flowers on my pages, I did some messy writing on the gesso, to take up space and write down something I wanted to remember.  I added India Ink to my Fineline Applicator and wrote on the page.

Then I painted over the writing with Halo Pink Gold and Pearl Turquoise.  I added glazing medium to the paints, painted them on and wiped them off with a baby wipe.  You really see the masking tape texture when you use glaze.

*sorry for the slight glare.  It's hard to not get a glare with metallic paints*

Like I said, I didn't have big stamps like Terri had, but I had a plan!  What if I took the tree branch from the "Hoot Owls" set and stamped it several times, making the look of a bush.  Then, I could turn the branch over and make some leaves and swirls at the bottom.  AND THEN, I could add the roses from the "Rosette Hearts" set and it could look like rose bushes!!  OH MY HECK!  This was going to be the most awesome thing I've ever made or the worst.  SO I just went all in, and got....

AWESOME!  I am so in love with this!  My vision is a total success!

I painted the flowers with Pearlescent Magenta and Metallic Gold in the centers.  WHAT?  Perfect!

But how to get that "Organic" look Terri talked about???  Flower Soft of course!!  I used Tombow Mono Multi Adhesive and a Fineline applicator to add glue, and sprinkled Flower Soft on top.

What do you get when the Flower Soft dries?  Awesome times 5million!!!

Here is a close up of my rose bushes with Flower Soft on the stems and leaves.

Don't you just love when a project comes together like this?  I love when this happens.  You get an idea and that idea sort of takes over.  Like it has a mind of it's own.  I love the excitement and the slight fear you get at the same time.  But when it turns out better than you expected it is priceless!!

I hope you let the art take you on a journey of excitement today!  You will love the results!

ART JOURNAL PAGE FOR SINCITY STAMPS

Hello!  I am sharing an art journal page today that I made for SinCity Stamps.  I follow along with Terri Sproul's Facebook group "All Things Terri Sproul", where she shares art journaling and mixed media art techniques.  Her first prompt in her new journal was her word for the year.  I too have a new journal and a word for the year so I decided to play along!  My word is SIMPLIFY.
Supplies:

I started by painting my background bronze and letting it dry.  I also got my other 3 paints ready for the next step.

Next I painted my circles.

Then I outlined them with black marker.  I wasn't sure I liked how this was turning out at this point.

But when I added the stamps I LOVED it!!  A few little tiny dots of black and white filled it in perfect, I think!

Thanks so much for visiting!  I hope you check out SinCity Stamps and Terri's show!

What's YOUR word for the year?

SINCITY STAMPS "HOOT" CARD

Hello!  I have a card to share with you today using SinCity Stamps ~ Stamps and Stencils.
Is he the cutest owl or what???
SUPPLIES:

Cut a piece of watercolor paper to 5.25"x4".  Mix paint with gesso and apply it to the paper with a palate knife.  Let dry.

Ink around the edges with Distress Ink.  Apply stencil on top of paper and spray with brown ink.  My paper was on an uneven surface so some of the ink dripped under the stencil but I love how it looked!

I love how some of the green is showing through the stencil, and some of the brown ink followed the stencil pattern!  I bet if I tried to do it again, I couldn't.  But I want to!!  I splattered some white and black paints on top.

Now,I cut out all my stamps *I know I stamped after I stenciled but you get the point I hope??* and I stamped right on the paper.  I used the branch, owl and the word Hoot.

To finish him I did some coloring and added white sprinkles to his eyes.  Last was the bow.

Thanks so much for visiting today!!  And be sure to try some of these SinCity Stamps products.  You will LOVE them!!

POCKET ART JOURNAL

Hi!  I have an art journal I made for SinCity Stamps to share with you today.  It is a mini, so you can take it with you wherever you go.  It measures 4.5"x3" and is made with Mixed Media paper so it is ready for all of your artsy techniques.  I even decorated it a little, so jotting down ideas or experiences is super easy!

This is a side view  The album is made with plenty of room for you to add tons of stuff to the pages. There is even a little pocket to put things in you want to add later.

A little glimpse inside shows some spray ink and stamping.  I made 3 "signatures" of 2 pieces of paper each to put inside, for a total of 12 pages. "Signature" is a book binding term for how you add the inside pages.

I made a tutorial to show you how I this tiny journal.

THANKSGIVING PLACE CARDS

I am having a total of 9 people for Thanksgiving dinner this year and thought pretty place cards would be perfect for my table.  I only have 4 so far, I better get busy!!
Materials:

Score both sides of the cold press block in the center.

By scoring (not cutting) the cold press block on both sides, you get a perfectly folded card.

I squeezed some paint on my craft mat and mixed them to tone down the yellow and make the orange.

Using the removable adhesive I put a 1.5" x 2" piece of cardstock in the center of one side of the place card.  This space will be saved for the names.

Use all of the colors to paint the blocks, make sure to show the different shades of yellow, orange and red.  When the paint is dry, stamp the leaves with brown ink and let them dry.  Then remove the cardstock from the center.

Add the names and embellish the place cards with pearls and leaves.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

HALLOWEEN IS ALMOST HERE!!

I love Halloween!  The Autumn air, the beautiful colors of the leaves, and the super cute Trick or Treat costumes!!  I always make a Masquerade style mask to wear when I give out treats and I even dress up my dogs!  I decorate my house and my yard to get in the spirit of this fun holiday.

Today I am sharing 3 Halloween projects.  A card, a home decor item and the mask I made for this year.  I've included a tutorial for the mask.

I like sending cards for any and all occasions.  This card is made in a doodling style.  I used my favorite markers to make it.  I love Tombow Dual Brush Markers and the "Manga Shonen" set of 10 are the markers I use for everything!  The pack has 9 markers and a blending pen.  The colors are perfect for skin tones and include shades of all primary colors and black.
I doodled the BOO and the spiderwebs on orange cardstock with my black Tombow Marker.  There is a flexible tip and a fine tip.  I used the Flexible tip for the border lines and the fine tip for the letters and the webs.  I used some web paper to mat the orange paper on and added some rhinestones and a spider sticker.  I photocopied the orange paper with the doodling so I can send some fun cards to several friends.

Next, I made a pumpkin decoration for my house.
At the store where everything is a dollar I got this Styrofoam pumpkin.  I covered the orange color with 2 coats of Gesso.  Then I doodled with my black Tombow marker from my set.  I used the flexible tip to make the scrolls and the fine tip for the small doodles.  I doodled all around the pumpkin.  I used my Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue to adhere the black and white ribbon.  This liquid adhesive, when used alone, becomes repositional!  I used the glue to make dots down the pumpkin. When it was dry, I was able to add the ribbon in a cascading way.  How cool is that?  SO easy!!  Then I used my Black Tombow marker from my set to ink up my leaf stamp from SinCity Stamps.  I used the flexible end of the marker and colored all over the stamp.  I "huffed" on the stamp and stamped it on several pieces of scrap paper then cut them out.  Again, I used my Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue to adhere the leaves, gauze, silver curling ribbon and some metal swirls.

Finally, my masquerade mask.  I made a Snapguide Tutorial to show you how I made it.

Thank you for visiting today!  I hope I've inspired you to make some wonderful things of your own. No matter what the reason or the season!!  And please click on the links to check out the awesome supplies I used!
