TOMBOW USA MIXED MEDIA WEEK

This week is Mixed Media week on the Tombow USA Blog!!  And I love mixed media!  I had so much fun with this!!
I made a mixed media canvas for my project and I used all Tombow products to do it!!  This project is super easy and a lot of fun!
Supplies:

I started by coloring my Gelli Plate with all of these Tombow Dual Brush Pens.  I sprayed some water on top and put my white cardstock right on the plate.  I used a brayer to be sure I got color all over the paper.

The paper came out beautiful!  I let it dry.  Usually when I make a mixed media piece, I go over some areas with gesso.  But I had a great idea!!  I used some Tombow Wide Trac Correction Tape instead!  I used the correction tape and scraped it with a palette knife just like I do with my gesso.

The next step in my process is always using spray ink and stencils.  I have this manual air pump to spray the ink with my Tombow Dual Brush Pen through the stencil!  Sweet!!

When that is dry, I start stamping.  Again, I used my black Dual Brush Pen to ink up my stamps.  I even put the ink on a circle cup I have and stamped some circles on my piece.

Then I used my Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue to adhere my book paper and picture.  Mono Aqua glue is the best for paper adhesion.  Remember, the markers are water based so the glue will reactivate them.
I used the Aqua glue on all the edges of the paper and behind the picture and book paper and adhered this to a canvas!  I went around the canvas with some distress ink, the only non-Tombow product I used.

And that's it!  A perfect mixed media piece of work using *almost* only Tombow products!!  I really challenged myself with this piece and I love it!  I am going to put it up in my house!

I can't wait to see what you make!!

  4. Ack....I got so behind this month on visiting other blogs!! I got the email notification of this one and glanced briefly and never got back to it with my question......you know me, always wanting more info!!

I got confused when you described using the correction tape. Did you produce your white streaks by pressing the tape strips down with your palette knife over your printed paper and then lifting it off? I know that is a basic question, but I guess I didn't realize it would actually remove the colored layer completely like that. Am I missing something? :)

Hugs to you and thanks for all your helpful tips and patient explanations!!
