IT'S COLOR WHEEL WEEK ON THE TOMBOW USA BLOG!!

The Tombow Design Team will WOW you with their inspiring projects all week, using the color wheel!  I have a color wheel that I bought years ago for only a few dollars.  It is a resource every artist/crafter should have.   For my project this week, I used my color wheel to pick 4 colors to use while coloring a page from Joanne Fink's "Zenspirations" coloring book.  The colors are red, green, violet blue and orange yellow.  In a million years I would never have picked these colors but I think they look awesome together!!

I started by picking a page out of my Zenspirations book and used my color wheel to tell me what Tombow Recycled Colored Pencils to use.    I also got my Tombow Blender Pen out, so i could blend my pencil marks away.

I chose to go with a Square Tetrad color combo,  which is a pair of primary/secondary colors and a pair of tertiary colors.  Red and green are primary complimentary colors and orange yellow and violet blue are tertiary colors.  Primary colors are red, yellow and blue.  Secondary colors are orange, green and violet (purple).  Tertiary colors are a primary color mixed with a secondary color. You can google "Color Wheel" and you will find tons of information.

Do those colors look like they would match?  Like I said, I would never have picked those colors to use at the same time.  But the color wheel was right!

I colored my flowers with violet blue and used my blender to smooth out my pencil lines.

I am so in love with this!!  It is so amazing, the color wheel was right!!  The deep richness of the colors play off each other in a way I never thought they would.  Not only will I use this color combination again, I will definitely consult my color wheel more often!
I hope you play with different color combinations this week!!  I'd love to hear what awesome combinations you find on the color wheel!

TOMBOW BACK TO SCHOOL WEEK!

It's Back To School Week on the Tombow Blog!  The design team will have inspiring projects to share with you all week.  My project is an Altered Notebook.

Composition notebooks can be so boring.  With just a few products and a few minutes you can turn that drab notebook into a totally FAB notebook!
SUPPLIES:

I Started by adding patterned paper to my cover with Tombow Xtreme Adhesive.  Xtreme Adhesive is 5 times stronger than regular adhesive runners, so I knew my cover would be secure. I also used the Xtreme Adhesive to adhere my ruler trim to the cover.  Remember, when using Xtreme adhesive you have to pull it to the side when you are done applying it.

Inside, I made 3 sections.  The first page of each section, I added pattern paper to the front and back with Tombow Stamp Runner Dot Pattern Adhesive.  The pages are very thin, so the Stamp Runner provided more than enough adhesion.

I added a pocket to the bottom of each page.  I used Tombow Mono Multi Liquid glue to do this.  Mono Multi is a great adhesive for this because it dries fast and is permanent.

This is the middle page.

Here is the third page.  I tucked some index cards in to show you the size of the pocket.

And the back of the book.
Isn't this a lot better than a regular composition notebook?  I think so!!  I hope I've inspired you to try this Back To School project!!

AN ALTERED CLOCK

I have had this clock for some time and just found it again.  Altering is so much fun!  I was surprised I had forgotten about this clock!

This clock is cheating a little because it came ready to alter.  I didn't actually transform it into something else.  When I do really alter things, I like to call it "Artistic Transformation".  That sounds so fancy and I think altering is a very fancy thing to do.

Here is my finished clock.  I made this for the Bella Crafts Quarterly Blog.  The instructions on how I made it can be found there.  I hope you check it out!!

This is a close up of the inside.

I hope you check out my mini tutorial on the Bella Blog.

Happy Artistic Transforming!

MAIL ART WEEK ON THE TOMBOW BLOG!!

This week the Tombow Design Team is making Mail Art on the Tombow Blog!  I LOVE Mail Art, both making it and receiving it.  Who doesn't love getting a pretty envelope in the mail?

This is my finished envelope.

SUPPLIES:

I cut and scored my watercolor paper into an envelope shape and sprayed it all over with water from the mister that comes with the Tombow Blending Kit.  The Blending Kit is awesome!  It comes with a mister, a Blender Pen, an instructional blending guide  and a Blending Palette.

I picked a blue and a red Tombow Dual Brush Pen because when these colors are combined they make purple.  The Blending Kit also comes with an instructional blending guide to help you with your blending.  After I applied all of my wet ink from the blending palette to my watercolor paper, I sprayed it again with more water from my mister and let it dry.

Isn't it sooo pretty???  All the beautiful colors from Dual Brush Pens stayed true and blended into a super pretty purple.  The paper stayed flat and accepted the water perfectly because it is a heavy weight paper that is made to get wet.  Looking good so far!!

Next I stamped several different background stamps all over the envelope using Tombow Dual Brush Pens as my ink.  Just color the stamp with the brush tip and it works just like an ink pad! If it is a large stamp, you might have to huff on the stamp before stamping it.  I used 3 different shades of blue and stamped light to dark.  Then I stamped the feather stamp and the postage type stamp with brown ink so they would stand out.  And I added a few little bird stamps too! To finish the envelope off I added some dots and circles with my darkest blue dual brush pen.

To close the bottom 3 flaps, I used Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue, Fine Tip.  Mono Multi is a super strong adhesive which is definitely what you want when you make envelopes or pockets.
Thanks so much for visiting today!  I hope you make some awesome Mail Art yourself!  I know you will LOVE it!!  And so will the person you send it to :)

NATIONAL SMILE WEEK!

We are celebrating National Smile Week on the Tombow Blog, with super fun projects that will make you SMILE!! I used a page out of Joanne Fink's Zenspirations  Coloring Book Flowers and, of course, Tombow products!
SUPPLIES:

I started by coloring in my flower images with the Tombow Colored Pencils.  I didn't worry about being really neat with my coloring because Tombow has products that are like Magic!!

Like the Tombow Mono Sand Eraser!  As you can see, it removes colored pencil beautifully.  It also erases pen marks too.  Super awesome!

In some areas I used light and dark colors together and complimentary colors in others. For the tall Rectangles in the center I used red, orange and 2 yellows.  I just colored, not worrying about pencil marks or anything because I have a Tombow Dual Brush Colorless Blender Pen!  It is part of the Tombow Dual Brush Pens, but it can also be used with Tombow's Colored Pencils!  Crazy, right?  But true! Look at how the colors go from dark to light so smoothly.  It looks like a sunrise to me!!

Then I used a black Tombow Colored Pencil to do some fun creative writing of the word SMiLe!  I had so much fun finding cool places to write on, over and in.

Here's a close up of my page.  I know it makes me smile!  I was smiling the whole time I was making it!  The colors are happy and all of the SMiLeS all over the page are so fun!!
I hope this post makes you smile!!  Go out and make someone smile today!!
